SANTO NIÑO INSTITUTE GETAFE

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Santo Niño Institute of Getafe, Bohol is located at the central part of the town. The town is situated in the northern part of bohol and is 92 km. from the capital city of the Province. In 1926, the Spaniards called the town Jetafe. But years later they changed it to GETAFE, taken from the name of its twin city which is GETAFE City in Madrid, Spain. Getafe was founded a century ago. It was formerly named AMBACON.
Santo Niño Institute derived its name from the town's Patron Saint, the Holy Child, and Sto. Niño. Santo Niño Institute is a private, non-stock Secondary School owned by the Diocese of Talibon. It is governed by the Bohol Association of Catholic Schools (BACS) of the Diocese of TALIBON headed by the Bishop. The school was founded by Rev. Fr. Generoso Bastes, the parish priest during the time, with the support of the local government unit and some laymen in the Parish, way back 1964. This school/institution is a complete catholic secondary institution. It gives catholic instructions and enforces youth learning objectives, skills and values in all the fields of human endeavors. Generally, instructions are geared towards the preparation of the youth for college education.
The school has existed for a perio
d of 41 years. However, despite her long existence, the school still needs support, specially on financial aspect since its meager income is only enough for the salary of the teachers. It envisions to give a holistic quality education leading to a personal integration of the catholic faith and morals into every life and the heroic pursuit of Christian virtues with the fervor of giving all the Glory to GOD.

“What we are left with then is the present, the only time where miracles happen. We place the past and the future as well into the hands of God. The biblical statement that "time shall be no more" means that we will one day live fully in the present, without obsessing about past or future.”!
